MDP MPs blocking parliament speaker from entering into parliament house
Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Parliamentary group has passed a motion to stymie President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik from entering the chambers when the Parliament reconvenes tomorrow.
After a heated debate, the decision had been made during a meeting by a majority of the 26 members present, said a participant who wanted to remain anonymous.

However, a motion was also passed by a majority vote to allow the entry of the Speaker Abdulla Shahid on grounds that he was a Member of Parliament.

“The meeting was intense. Some members wanted to relent and allow the session to take place. Other members wanted to block the Parliament all together. The decision was made to take a vote when the opinions became divided.
