On the public TV Mr Nasheed first said he was resigning from the post of Presidency for the betterment of the country and in order to prevent a civil war. Let’s ask ourselve: where are we now today?
After 24 hours passed, he told the international media that he resigned at gun point. When asked who held the gun to his head, he said it was a metaphorical phrase and he resigned under intimidation from the military force and for the risk of his life.
He also claimed to have written the resignation letter at the military headquarter when they gave him a pen and a paper. However, his secretary later revealed he wrote the letter at the President’s Office. Some photos leaked to media have provided proof to this but Nasheed has yet to confirm this.
When Nasheed stated his reason for resignation on the public TV his whole cabinet stood behind him. It was reported on the media that he met with his cabinet before deciding to resign from presidency and that some cabinet ministers tried to persuade him not to do so. Last night Nasheed told the media that he has forgotten when he wrote the resignation letter!
Are we still going to believe his words still and behave like fools?
